Weeding at the Hall: Thank You, Green Team!

Updated: 2 days ago

Community spirit in action – thank you for helping keep our hall ecofriendly and inviting

The village hall likes to be as green and ecofriendly as we can, so recently we got a team together to remove the weeds around the side of the hall – the section that runs along the curb side, above the bank, and next to the building. This area is also one of our fire exits, so keeping it clear is not only tidy but important.

With the help of our brilliant ‘Green Team’ of volunteers, we got the weeds up in no time – ‘many hands make light work’, as they say! I’m truly grateful to those who joined in, especially as I had underestimated the area. It was quite a stretch!

We had a lovely bonus on the day too – Jessie got stuck into weeding the playground with her little helpers, all decked out in their hi-vis jackets. It was absolutely heartwarming to see them taking pride in their local space. You’re never too young to start learning about looking after your surroundings.

Special thanks go to:

  • Andrew, Geoff, and Jon – for their tireless efforts

  • Elijah - For his tea making

  • Jessie and the kids – for making the playground look lovely

  • Paul – for helping me get the new scalpings down

  • Tricky Dicky Groundworks – for picking up the scalpings and delivering them to us with a smile.

Today, with Paul’s help, we got the membrane and scalpings laid – another job ticked off the list!

Looking Ahead: Brush in Hand, Let’s Keep Going!

Help us refresh the hall grounds – all hands welcome!

Further work still needs to be done around the hall. The bench in the playground could do with a little repair and some wood treatment, and both sheds are in need of wood treatment. We’ve also got a few bits of fencing to fix following the recent vandalism to the playground fencing.

Any help with this would be much appreciated. The committee and trustees work ever so hard to keep the village hall a wonderful community building for all, and from time to time we could do with a bit of a hand. When you come forward, it’s a massive help to us.

If you’d like to join us in refreshing the woodwork or helping out with any of the odd jobs, please get in touch via our contact page or email Helen at villagehalldrimpton@gmail.com.

Thank you – your support makes all the difference.
